Jim Banks

 

Jim's earliest adventures began in Bali in 1977 when the only way to Uluwatu was to walk though the fields from the temple. On his very first wave at Uluwatu he took off on a double overhead wave at the peak and was barrelled 3 times on the one wave. And so the love affair with Indonesia began.

Since then, Jim has spent countless decades surfing and exploring the far reaches of Indonesia. Although the 80's he often surfed giant Outside Corner Uluwatu by himself and spent extended periods surfing Grajagan and Desert Point, often by himslef.

 

His Indonesian Odyssey Expeditions were probably the most extensive privately funded exploration of the Indonesian coastline.

And the boards that he shaped for himself and a few dedicated customers, became very highly regarded for Indonesian waves.
